"Broken Gaze" - Davida Jones (2024)
The "Broken Gaze" was created to challenge the idea of the male gaze. Women are often objectified by men in a sexual manner. They are seen as more of an object and less of a person. In the image I used the eye to represent the male perspective. The seductive image of the female body placed in the iris of the eye is the act of sexually objectifying women. The glass as a overlay is used to "break" the male gaze. The figure of the woman is barely accessible or shown to the viewer. This is intentional as I wanted to draw the viewer away from the objectification.
